Jewelry Buying / Selling

Buying & Selling Made Simple

Whether you are looking to buy or sell diamonds, fine jewels, or watches, Gemological Insurance Appraisers can help you. Our knowledgeable team can guide both buyers and sellers through the simple steps to ensure ownership of a desired object or a successful sale.

SELLING TO US

Selling your personal jewelry can be an emotional, intimidating, and an unpleasant experience, but with GIA’S assistance our clients are able to realize top prices for their jewelry quickly, discretely and effortlessly.

Very few jewelers have the experience, expertise or the financial resources to pay a fair market price for fine antique and estate jewels. Choosing a reputable jewelry buyer to navigate you through the course of action is the most important aspect of the jewelry selling process.

Our broad client list provides immediate access to interested buyers for a wide variety of styles and price ranges, thereby facilitating the sale of your jewelry where it will bring the highest price.

Whatever your reason to become a seller; raising cash for large bills, paying tuition, making a contribution or obtaining a divorce. GIA will do the legwork and protect your best interests. Most people have little idea how to safely sell jewelry and don’t want to just dump it for scrap. GIA is a world class buyer with the credentials to tailor each transaction just right to fit you and your needs.

What We Buy
We pay the best prices for diamonds, fine jewelry, as well as superior and rare colored gems. This jewelry can be from current modern motifs, extending back to Pre-Victorian periods. Certainly, the finest Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and Art Retro items are always of interest. Those made by such famous makers as Tiffany, Cartier, and Van Cleef and Arpels will command the utmost attention and value. Included in this jewelry world are certain well known watch brands such as Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, and Patek Philippe. Naturally, any gold or platinum watch will be evaluated with the same care as these famous brand watches.

We will evaluate and offer to purchase your jewelry items without obligation to you. We carefully evaluate your items and pay immediately if you choose to sell. Every type of jewelry is of interest to us. From diamonds, name brand watches such as Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe, to antique and estate jewelry. We will even buy your old school ring or charm bracelet. Because of our extensive contacts over many years in business, we have customers for any category of jewelry.

What if I can’t get as much as the dealer’s provisional offer?
We would be glad to accept the jewelry on consignment and sell it on your behalf. You would sign a consignment form authorizing me to ship the item for a firm offer. I will take responsibility for it and ship it overnight, insured to the dealer. Usually I have a firm offer within 2 days. If you accept the offer, you will receive a check from me as soon as I am paid—usually within 10 days. Our consignment fee is 10% of the realized value.

Can we pay retail value?  That would not be realistic.  Consumers, end users, always pay retail.  We are a preliminary step in bringing valued items of all different kinds back into the market to be re-sold to consumers.  While we do not pay retail, we offer the highest, competitive market prices. Sometimes these prices will be surprisingly high. Luxury and brand name items are always sought by us.  Diamonds can certainly have a high resale value depending on size and quality. We look for reasons to pay extra, such as famous maker marks or other valuable provenance which would increase our offer.

Can we expect more at an auction? Auctions certainly have their place, but consider the time you wait for an auction to be held and the substantial buyer and the seller premiums which are always deducted from your net proceeds. Often a seller ends up with less than an outright sale price. On rare occasions, an auction result may be unusually high, but one cannot depend on that rare chance. An auction usually needs to have your items three months before the auction takes place. If the item sells, you’ll have to wait yet another month to be paid. We offer and pay immediately.
