Jeffrey Check, Gemologist

Jeffrey G. Check is a Graduate Gemologist in Residence, from the Gemological Institute of America since February of 1974.  He has worked in New York on 47th street and moved up to one of the top antique jewelry and natural colored diamond houses at 580 Fifth Avenue named A.V. Gumuchian.  This company had on loan to the Museum of Natural History in New York their collection of fancy colored diamonds.  There he handled over 1 million per day in rare and important estate and period jewelry with colored stones and natural fancy color diamonds.  He then moved to California and worked in Laguna Hills buying, selling, and appraising diamond jewelry in the Taj Mahal Building for more than 10 years. He was one of the founding members of the EJAA (Estate Jewelers Association of America) and also a member of Polygon. Afterwards he opened up an estate jewelry store in Laguna Beach for 10 years called Family Jewels. There he specialized in platinum vintage filigree diamond engagement rings, antique rings with precious stones, vintage wrist watches and pocket watches. Since then he has traveled internationally to South America in Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Mexico purchasing and selling estate jewelry and most recently has lived in Thailand where he traded in stones.  He also has worked in Borneo with the diamond miners.  He is now living in Orange County and is opening an office in Newport Beach next to the John Wayne Airport (SNA) looking forward to passing along information about items you would like to know more about.  Ask an expert!
